The Champions of the Past project team have designed this online course to step you through all the skills you need to discover and record features on the lidar portal. You can access the sections flexibly and in any order, but you will need to mark all the sections and modules as complete before you can access the lidar portal.

Use the mark complete button at the bottom of each page and every section to log your progress through this course
There are six sections in total and we estimate that the course will take about 3 hours to complete. Over the course of 16 lessons we will cover:
- how lidar survey works
- how lidar data is used by archaeologists
- what types of features we can expect to identify from the lidar
- a step by step guide to recording features of interest in the portal
The course materials are designed so that you can work through independently at your own pace, testing your knowledge with mini-challenges where appropriate. You will have access to the course for the whole time you volunteer so you can come back to reference it or refresh your knowledge at any time.
If you get stuck at any stage you can email the course co-ordinator, Rebecca, for help.

At the top of each lesson page is a “breadcrumb” link (in blue) and lesson progress bar.
Clicking on the course title or section heading in the “breadcrumb” link will take you back to that section of the course
